In my younger days, the Olive Garden was the bees knees…But a recent visit has proved our taste buds have become much more refined or maybe we are becoming food snobs.
A staple dish that I have been ordering for years, chicken scampi, did not impress. It was drenched in scampi sauce, too much. But, the vegetables were fine and the chicken wasn’t terrible. For a dish I use to crave, I just no longer understood why. It was a pleasant moment of realization.
He had the lack luster lasagna and would go the extra to say mine is better… or maybe he was just being nice. It was very saucey with chunks of tomato and fine ground beef. But, still very cheesy. While it was fine, I believe he may have even claimed Stouffers to be better or at least on pare with what you would expect from a freezer.
This dining excursion was not about the food or place, it was the gathering of family and swapping stories.
